Evo(one) Start LTE on 2000 Ford Mustang convertible not working

0 votes

I installed the evo start LTE on a 2000 mustang gt convertible following the installation PDF and have not had any luck getting the evo one module to control any functions on the vehicle. It makes it through and the key setup completes successfully the red light on the unit flashes 10 times. I try to get it to start using the OEM key fob by pressing lock three times and nothing( i don't even hear any clicks or see any lights illuminate on the evo one unit). I have installed fortin units before but it was the evo-all on a 2013 nissan maxima. I remember on that install that once i selected lock from the OEM remote three times the Evo ALL unit would click a couple times and There would be a couple of lights that illuminated on the unit and it started the vehicle at that point. On the Mustang install It does not click or display any lights when you try the three lock commands from OEM remote or even any commands from the evo start app. I was not able to find the disarm - wire(Dark Green/Purple) to connect the disarm - wire on the Evo-One. I have access to wiring diagrams of the Mustang from Identifix technician site and the diagram states this wire on 1999 models only. From what i have found researching this that from 2000 models and on the only antitheft device is the PATS transponder around the ignition barrel. I believe that the disarm wire - from the Evo One unit is there just to disarm any factory alarm if the vehicle has one so im not quite sure if this is the root cause of the evo one not starting the vehicle but don't believe it is. One other area of concern is from the evo start app. The app is connected and paired and i get data back from the car such as voltage, temp, etc, but the app shows the doors on car in red and disarm icon shows in red as well. I can select lock or unlock, open trunk from app and from but nothing happens at the vehicle. Same with selecting engine start from the app. Im attaching a screenshot of wiring diagram mentioned stating 1999 models only along with screenshot of the app. I'm at my wits end with this unit and install and getting close to pulling this unit out of the vehicle completely. So any guidance, help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KOBpTzM-EYKxnvhPk39h_6oibZHVRaAn/view?usp=drive_link

the Yellow wire on the EVO-START-LTE will need to be connected to ignition since tachless needs to set (option 20.2)

I wanted to provide an update and say thank you Derek and Robert. The EVO start LTE module was not paired with the EVO one as you suggested. I went through the pairing process and the horn never would beep, so i check the connection on the brake pedal switch and sure enough it didn't have a good connection. So i took care of that connection. I also looked through the EVO One complete install guide which was very helpful and explained the connections needed it better detail than the one just for Mustang. I did connect another wire as that could of been part of my problem as well.  On the Mustang install guide it didn't show making a connection of A1 wire(Yellow) of the Secondary connector to the ignition as well. It did show on the mustang guide the connector wire number of both Primary and secondary connector wire for ignition ( A1/E5) So i currently I have three items connected to the ignition circuit (E5 pink wire of 6 pin Primary connector,A1 yellow wire of secondary connector, The yellow wire from Evo start since the install is tachless. Once i completed the changes I was able to pair the Evo start to the Evo one and started the mustang with the app. Since I followed the Mustang guide i did add the three relays called for in the instructions. SInce I wired the way the guide showed. I am able to lock and unlock the doors and remote start just fine. Thank you again for your assistance with the issues i was having, But as of now with the advice you provided everything is working fine

Hello,

- 3x lock start from the oem remote is not support on this vehicle, it is also not listed as a feature when you look the car up on https://fortin.ca/en/vehicles/ford/mustang/2000-standard-key/compatibility/

-The only thing the evo-one does through data on this vehicle, is immo. If you want any other fucntions to work from the app, you need to hardwire all the connections between the evo-one module and the vehicle.

- If the start function isnt working from the app to activate the evo, then I would assume the 2 units were not successfully paired together. Even if they are not paired properly you will still get temp and voltage. https://fortin.ca/download/102151/EVO-ONE_IG_EVO-START_QUICK-GUIDE_E_102151.pdf Also, make sure the yellow loop is cut (automatic transmiission) and that the unit is not in valet mode.

-You will know it paired properly if the horn is connected because the horn will honk 1x on its own when the evo-start sends pairing signal during the programming listed in the guide above.

Best regards.
