I need to know what remote start works that has longer range and does not need a key fob in the car.

For a 2012 jetta push-to-start you would need the following parts for remote start (automatic transmission only)

- evo-vwt1

- flash link updater

Both will start your car, the evo one is also a complete alarm module. the evo all (evo-vwt1) is an alarm but not as complete.
