Key Override All stopped working

0 votes
I have a 2013 Sequoia, came installed with Key Override All.  I have a G key. The system  recently stopped working. Here are some details:

1.  had some (key) starting issues this summer so battery was disconnected and ECM was reset (hooking battery cables together)

2.  Blue security light is on constantly

3. Unlock/back hatch functions were working.

4. Remote start function NOT working.

So I went with the tried-and-true 1st step....replaced the batteries.  NOW THE KEY FOB WILL NOT LIGHT UP!  (yes, I have tried several different battery orientations...still nothing.  Will be purchasing a new set of batteries tomorrow.)

But still, even before the battery debacle, remote start stopped working.  So, my question to you folks is:  WHAT IS THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION?  Is this any easy reset if I get the key fobs to work or do I need an installer to take a look?? Any recommended installers near Canton, OH?

I'm a handy gal, but I'm not down for wire-tracing or rewiring this dang thing.  Dis tew much! (smh)

Thanks!!!!

Off the top of my head I cannot think of any common issues that would result in the issue you are describing.

I would suggest taking it to a shop if you are not looking to trace circuits and test wiring as that is going to be required to determine what is and is not functioning between the 2 modules.

A quick google will point you towards 12 volt installation shops in your area.

If you decide to try and diagnose it yourself, here is the installation guide for the key override all which you can use to comapre against the isntallation in the vehicle: https://fortin.ca/download/43881/koa_toyotasequoia2010_reva.pdf

Your remote starter was in valet mode from disconnecting the battery. Hence why lock-unlock was working and not start. The led being on solid BLUE also indicates it's in valet mode.

Note that the KEY-OVERIDE-ALL is only a transponder bypass module. There is another unit installed in there that is the remote starter brain. That's the unit that control lock-unlock and start and is also in valet mode.

is there any easy fix to get it out of valet mode?  I've seen some other tips and tricks on a combination of buttons to push to get it out of valet mode, but haven't found  Fortin specific instructions.

Depends on what brand the remote starter is...

If it's a Fortin remote starter

Default method ifor valet mode is

  • Ignition ON then press the valet button 3 times.
