Weird behavior when locking and unlocking with ftx-64-2w remote

+1 vote

I installed an EVO-ONE with the T-Harness in my 2015 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x with the RF642W kit. When I try to lock or unlock the truck with the automatic lights on via the remote, the headlights and dashlights flash rapidly for a second as if there is a short in the electrical system. This is the same type of behavior you would see with low voltage (dead battery) when trying to start the vehicle. The battery charge is fine. I originally thought I might have the A2 and A3 connections on the wrong wire, but everything was double checked and seems to be connected correctly. With the A2 and A3 wires disconnected, I get the same behavior, so I'm assuming this has something to do with the way the system is trying to unlock the truck through the CAN-BUS system. The truck still locks and unlocks with the FTX remote, but I am hesitant to contiue use as it acts like something is not right electrically. This behavior does not happen with the OEM fobs when locking and unlocking.

This was installed using guide 17743 Rev 20150527.

On some vehicles we do power ignition at unlock to disarm the vehicle. What i would do in your case is

First probe the large pink ignition wire on the evo one. when locking/unlocking is this wire powering up? if this is the case you may have accidentally enabled options 35.2.

If the wire powers up do a master reset of the Evo-One (option 23) reset the 3 options as stated in the guide and see if the propblem is still their.

Pink wire is not energizing. I reset the unit anyway. One thing I did try was locking/unlocking after disconnecting the 5-wire white connector that ties into the OBDII port with the C3 and C4 connections in place. The lock / unlock function worked perfectly with no flickering of lights. One thing I didn't add was that when the flickering happens, there is a slight delay to the lock and unlock.

I tested the system with the headlights turned to on, auto, or yellow lights on and got the flickering and relay clicking. If I turn the lights to off, everything appears to function normally. It seems the issues lies with the CAN communication and the headlights (and accompanying dash lights).
This behavior happens on some nissan/infiniti vehicle. I can assure you can leave it that way without a problem. Little issue between the autolight system and the parking light system. You can either disconnect the parking light, or take the switch out of the auto state.
Is there a way to disable all unlock/lock commands through CAN communication and just use the purple wires? This would fix the problem and provide peace of mind.
I turned off option A1 on the bypass, but I'm still getting the flickering/tweaking out (as another post put it) when I unlock. Locking doesn't do it anymore now that I turned off A1.
