evo-all with cm6000 by the data link

Question

i am installing the fortrin evo-all bypass and the cm6000 remote starter system on a 2010 ford f150. the cm6000 has a datalink that hooks directly up with the evo-all. i read that that eliminates a lot of wiring that is needed to be done. if i use the data link what does that eliminate on hooking up the evo all and what has to be hooked up.

If you look at the Fortin install guide for your truck, anything that is a black dotted line does not need to be hooked up while using datalink.

Also, when using datalink, you need to make sure both units are speaking the same languages. The EVO comes from factory with the Fortin datalink protocol language. The Compu comes the ADS language set to default. This means that they would not communicate together if you do not change the settings properly.

 

There are two things you could do at this point (only do 1 of them) :

1. Go in the Compu programming options and set the datalink protocol to 2-way Fortin protocol
2. Update the EVO-ALL to the latest Ford Firmware using the Flash-Link Manager (Flash-Link Updator required). Go in the EVO-ALL options menu and change the datalink protocol OP/OFA datalink (option 21.2).

 

There's a third option which would be don't bother with datalink if you are not familiar with it. It would save you time in the long run. Not using datalink on this truck would only be an additional 2-5 wires to connect between remote starter and the EVO.
