Dodge RAM SRT-10 Standalone install not working

Hooked up a EVO-CHRT5 kit to a 2006 Dodge RAM SRT-10 as standalone, ran into two issues.

First, following the install guide I used connection 'F'. However there wasn't a green/yellow starter wire so I moved to connection 'C' as the guide instructed. On further inspection, the plug inside the SRT-10 with the 12v, IGN, and MUX wires is different than the one pictured in the guide, as well it has 6 pins instead of 5. Is there a different guide for the SRT-10 or is it not compatible?

Second, after following connection 'C', the EVO-ALL programmed normally. Option 15 was set to Standalone Mode before installation with the Flashlink Updater. However, when I hit LOCK 3x the car does not start. The RED LED on the EVO-ALL comes on, followed by the YELLOW, then the BLUE flashes extremely fast. The truck does nothing during this, no ignition, nothing.

I have tried Firmware 4.09, 4.18, and the recommended one as well. Same results for all of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi George,

Is this a push-to-start truck? If it is we may have a connection to add and would explain why you have a 6-pin connector and not a 5-pin.

What is the 12 digit service numebr of the EVO?

 

For now....

You should following connection C except for the Green/Red wire of the EVO which must be connected at the ignition harness like on connection F. The Green/Red wire of the EVO should not be connected on the purple wire of the T-Harness. MUX color is normally always Violet/Brown at the ignition harness.

  • No other connections should be done at the ignition harness besides for the MUX. For now.

 

On Connection F, the Yellow/Red wire of the EVO-ALL red connector is said to be cut. Make sure this wire is actually not cut.  Since you have to use connection C, cutting the wire and doing all the connections indicated on the red connector of the EVO-ALL is not required (for now).

 

I have tried Firmware 4.09, 4.18, and the recommended one as well.

You should be using the latest firmware version with the Stand Alone option (D1) turned on and with option C1 - OEM remote monitoring turned On.

  • Basically, Option C1 and D1 should be turned on.
  • C1 montiors the OEM remote, D1 converts the EVO-ALL in to a remote starter

Flash the unit to the latest 74.14 firmware and also master reset the EVO using this procedure:

 

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.
  5. Reprogram the EVO-ALL according to the programming procedure described in the install guide.

 

The master reset will clear the previous programming procedure you had done and also resets all the options back to facory default.

--- Once reset, turn on Option C1 and D1. Do not turn off any options already on.

--- You may have to turn on option D2 later if the vehicle is equipped with a factory alarm

Okay. This all makes sense. You will actually need to do Connection F and not Connection C. The only difference is that the (+)Starter will need to be connected directly at the push button. The wire at the push button should be Dk.Green/Yellow (pin 3 according to dodge plans) that you would connect the (+)Start connection to..

 

Ignition, MUX and 12V can be found at the ignition harness 6pin connector.

Wires at ignition switch:

12V pin 6 - Light Blue/Red

Ignition pin 3 - Pink/white

MUX pin 2 - Green/Brown

Robert, I hooked everything up as you described and the remote start works, however I have run into another issue. Almost every other time I remote start using the x3 lock sequence, the truck will crank and turn over but then immediately shut off, then after a few seconds the evo-all will begin a second attempt which also has a 50% repeating the issue.

I called Fortin and spoke with their technical department and we tried a couple things:

1. Tried 'Hybrid Mode' using firmware 74.14, this caused the evo-all to not crank the engine at all.

2. Tried 'Hybrid Mode' using the latest beta firmware (can't remember which right now) and this time it does crank and holds the starter/crank signal for 4 seconds. What happens during this is the car will crank and start up, immediately shut off (like before), but then immediately crank and start up again (this is all during the 1st start attempt).

I am leaning towards the evo-all not bypassing the transponder properly, since I tried multiple remote starts while sticking the key into the key cylinder and the truck starts fine. Without the key in the cylinder, the truck is 50/50 on remote starting successfully.

By sticking the key in the barrel it also plays around with the MUX. If you retry the same test but instead of putting the key in the barrel you put the key upside down in front of the barrel so that the vehicle see`s only the transponder and nothing else; what happens then?

 

And just to be sure, you are following connection F only.

 

The yellow/red wire from the red connector is cut and you have the connector side of that cut going to the vehicles ignition.

  • If you test this wire. Does it test as an ignition when remote starting and when starting with the key normally?

 

The green/red wire from the 20-pin would need to be tested also. When testing this wire when starting the car with key (not remote start), you should see different voltages depending on which position your key is in. Whatever voltages are tested when starting the truck with the key, you should see the same results when starting by remote start.

 

Starting with key MUX test:  Tested from the Green/red wire on the EVO.

  • No key in barrel :    Vdc
  • Key in barrel :  Vdc
  • Key in Acc position  : Vdc
  • Key in Ign postion : Vdc
  • Start button pushed in  : Vdc

 

After testing the previous, remote start with a multimeter on the Green/Red wire.
