key fob inop with engine running

0 votes
i have a 2019 kia sorento with the evo 1 and RF kit RF642W.  the remote start works correctly although i did have to wire A1 yellow wire to ignition in order to get the evo1 to program.  my question is the factory key fob does not function once the vechicle is running so i have to unlock the door manually.  the other question is the unlock and lock functions on the add-on RF fob do not work and to me it looked like it uses the can network for that.  is there any fixes for this?

Did you perform the CUT1 & CUT2 connections shown in the guide?

I did cut the pink and connected one end to the White/green and the other end of the pink wire to the White/red And the Grey/orange I cut and connected one end to the Yellow/green and the other end of grey/orange I connected To yellow/ red just as shown in the diagram

I would go back and verify the cuts, the purpose of these cuts are to allow the OEM remote to function while the car is running. Seeing as your does not work when the egnine is on leads me to believe perhaps a wrong wire was cut.

Also, pay close attention to the grey/orange as there are 2 wires of the same color next to each other.

i am postive that i did as described but i will check it again.  is the add on rf remote supposed to work the door locks?
also why did i have to connect the the yellow wire in the A1 connector in order to get the evo 1 to program and work correctly as it does not show this being connected

"is the add on rf remote supposed to work the door locks?"

- The rf sends the same codes as the oem remote, and these codes only work when those 2 wires are opned up during remote start, so seeing your oem remote doesnt work right now, explains why the rf is not working either.

"also why did i have to connect the the yellow wire in the A1 connector in order to get the evo 1 to program and work correctly as it does not show this being connected"

- Not sure on this one, perhaps the evo needed an analog ignition signal.

the oem reote works as long as it is not running but the add -on only works the remote start and not the door locks ever.  this one did not have the ems com wire so it does not have a immoblizer does that make a difference?
Not sure? When the car is running under remote start and you press lock or unlock does the blue led on the evo blink?

Did you ever verify the cut wires?
i will check that and no i have not had a chance to check that yet it is my sister in laws car. she had me put it in since i have done alot of them and i work at a very busy diesel repair shop so she trust me to put it on
ok i double checked the wiring and it is all correct.  i did notice that if you use the add on remote the lock button unlocks the vechicle but the unlock does nothing. i also put the flashlink manager on the evo 1 and enabled the oem 3 lock remote start function and it works
What is the complete vin to the vehicle please.
i will find out and get that to you.  also i updated the firmware to both the bypass and remote start of the evo one.   also on connector a of the vechicle there is not a second grey/orange next to the grey/orange that was cut.  the blue light on the evo also lights up when the add on rf remote buttons are pressed

What is the service number to the module?
002B07 xxxxxx

flash and options look ok to me...

Next try flashing 76.47 into the bypass and re program it in the vehicle and test.

So just to recap as this is a long thread:

You have:

-Verfied both cuts by pin position.

-Also verified you cut the wire wire on the t-harness (if used) as indiciated in the guide.

Issues:

-OEM fob is dead when engine is running on remote starter.

-RF kit "i did notice that if you use the add on remote the lock button unlocks the vechicle but the unlock does nothing"

yes that is correct also is 76.47 the latest firmware because i just updated it to the latest level  the other day on the bypass and the remote start of the evo 1.  i also programmed the module to the vechicle after doing the update and it was no help
So are you waiting for more info from me I'm guessing
At this point I would suggest calling into tech support when you have the module, vehicle and time to troubleshoot the issue live on the spot.

ok well not sure when that would be since i work m-f 8-6
I have two Sorentos with this same issue.  I am looking at one of them next week to troubleshoot but think there is an ignition 2 wire powered up that shouldn't be.  The diagram colors for the ignition switch were not the same as the vehicle and I went with pin position instead.  I will test all the wires at the switch and hopefully find the issue.  Tech support said the module never got the vin number via can bus to program the module with regard to the data door locks (brake shut off is innop as well, had to hard-wire it).

I will post my findings after I work on the vehicle.
Give us a call once you get those cars back
