2008 bmw x5 how to leave the engine in the running position?

In the 2008 BMW X5 is installed remote start. I want to activate turbo timer. How to leave the engine in the running position (how to get the key from the slot)?

The only option would to follow the instruction for a manual transmission BMW and shave off one of the side tab.
