Heated Seats

Hello.

I have the Evo All installed and working in my 2015 Opel Astra J Manual Trans. It is running the latest Chevy Cruze firmware as there is no specific Opel firmware. It is connected via data to a Dei Python 4704V remote starter. Everything works fine except the heated seats. I know they are controled by the coolant temp. They do come on in this sequence, Max, Med, Min, Off. I was wondering if the Chevy has more settings than the Opel ie four pulses to the min setting as opposed to three pulses to take the Opel to min setting. Its the only thing I can come up with.

Best Regards

Typically, heated seats will turn on when the engine temperature is below -5C. The actual temperature control of the heated seat is either last setting or whatever deafult setting it is when initially turned on.

To the best of my knowledge the seat temp turns on at min regardless of default or last setting. Can you tell me if the cycling from max to off is normal? -5 degrees seems very cold. I am in Ireland and it would be unusual for us to regularly get those temps.
I just got confirmation that the setting is at MAX. If -5C is not a common temperature I would suggest adding a remote starter system along side the EVO that has an AUX output that you can then use to control on-off of the heated seats.
The viper 4704 v has several aux outputs. The heated seats are controlled by electronics so the aux output will not work. Believe me I have tried. It needs to get its signal from the can. Can you tell me if it is normal for the seats to cycle through the settings on remote start, if the temp is not below -5. looks like I will have to pray for freezing weather to test them!!!!!!

we will have  a lot of negative celcius's to hand over soon if you want some (Montreal, Quebec)!

Please try the following.

  1. Disable option A4 - Heated Seats (description says "automatic". Disabling the option makes it activated via an AUX)
  2. Remote start the vehicle (doors closed)
  3. Take either the ORANGE or ORANGE/BLACK of the EVO and ground it
  • see if the heated seats turn on
  1. If #3 did not work, try a 1 sec ground pulse on either ORANGE or ORANGE/BLACK
  • see if the heated seats turn on

Orange and Orange/Black are two AUX inputs. Either a ground pulse, or latch for x amount of time, might activate the heated seats if option A4 is OFF. It is very possible the actual HVAC control will not tell you the heated seats are on, so sit on the seat and see if it heats.

Hello Again.

Sorry about delay in getting back. I tried all the options above, to no avail. When I ground the Aux, either pulse or constant, the seats cycle thus. High, Med, Low, Off. I tried having them on before  setting remote start, same thing. I turned them on manually during remote start, and then grounding the Aux. Suprise suprise, they cycle perfectly. Ground in high, they move to med, ground low, ground off, ground high. It seems once they loose power they must be energised again with the switch.I cant see a solution to this problem. i even opened the switch unit on the dash hoping to bridge out the switch with an aux driven relay, but its a printed circut with no moving parts.
