2014 Veloster manual transmission key start.

0 votes
Installed Evo One on Hyundai Veloster key start, programmed as 2014 Genesis coupe. no blue LED'S when lock/unlock. Yellow LED's when ignition on. Car continues to run on shutdown until all door are shut and then powers off, but will not remote start.

Is the Data Key Bypass on light blue/black on fortin going to the blue in your diagram but is green/black on Veloster needed?

Is the Data Key the Transponder?

Okay a couple of things,

1. What do you mean by programmed as 2014 Genesis coupe?

2. Option B2 does not need to be turned on the Bypass side

3.Can you flash the unit to 76.17 please

4. Did you do the test with the aluminum foil around the key that Mathieu told you to do? If the vehicle did not start with the foil wrapped key, then you have the immobilizer system and need to hook up the Light blue/Black

The Light Blue/Black is VERY IMPORTANT,  this wire is responsible for bypassing the immobilizer in the vehicle. The Data key bypass wire on your vehicle is BLUE, please follow the pinout location for the 2014

5. The CAN 1 and CAN 2  wire have to be connected properly or the doorlocks will not function properly.

There are no instructions to program veloster with key start. The car starts with foil around it. Is can 1 and 2 the same on us key start veloster  if so then yes it's connected as stated.
Flashed the Unit with 76.17 and turned off B2. Will not start no Blue LED.

Since there are no instructions for a Veloster key start it will not program under Veloster Push to Start, therefore used 2014 Genesis Coupe key start for program, The program works in all aspects except for starting the car which we wired as per the Veloster 2014 push to start Evo One instuctions as well as downloading the 2014 Hyndai Veloster 2014 Manual Transmission Wire Diagram so we know we have all the correct wires in thier place, we also just double checked all wires.

I put 12v to the start wire and the car starts, since it starts I would assume that there is a network issue within the unit to tell the car to start. I need to know what I need to do to fix it.

So let me get this straight:

1. You can start the vehicle with a foil wrapped key??

If yes, then there is no immobilizer system, then DATA KEY BYPASS wire connection NOT NEEDED

2. Can you please try the remote starter in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MODE? Just MAKE SURE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL by cutting the yellow loop temporarily and test if you can get the vehicle to start.

3. Also, in function 38 in the remote starter side, you programmed it so you need to do LOCK, UNLOCK, LOCK  on purpose to start right?

No transponder, you need to program using the blue LED since it's for Can-Bus only.

I would suggest doing a master then reprogramming the unit.

Master Reset Procedure:

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.

CAN-BUS Programming:

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is BLUE.
  3. Plug in remaing connectors
  4. Turn ignition ON. Wait. BLUE LED will start to flash.
  5. Module is now programmed

Watch out for step 4. Only the BLUE LED should be on and flashing.

  • If the BLUE LED flashes and RED is on solid : something is wrong with the ORANGE set of CAN-BUS wires.
  • If the RED LED is flashing and the BLUE is solid : soemthing is wrong with the GREY set of CAN-BUS wires

to number 1.  Yes starts with foil on key so i removed the DATA KEY BYPASS wire.

to number 2.  Will try that tonight.

to number 3.  Yes i put it to unlock lock unlock, no horn cherp that way.

i will try the master reset first then cut the yellow wire.

some asked if the reservation mode was working and yes it is. i get out car stays running till i close the door.

I'm hoping that your number 3 entry is a typo, it's supposed to be LOCK, UNLOCK LOCK to start.

yes typo, i rest then tried still not starting then i tried atamatic tranny mode no luck, what should i try next?

In automatic transmission mode, how did the vehicle react? Did ignition turn ON? Is it cranking but not starting? etc..

Because in automatic mode, it will try to start a couple of times, then in the end, the parking lights will flash a certain number of times as a diagnostic tool to tell you WHY it did not start.

In the last page of the install guide, there is a list of parking light flashes to tell you why it failed to start, can you please note down the number of flashes and we can go from there.

ALSO SINCE THIS IS A KEY START MODEL, DID YOU CONNECT TO THE CLUTCH SWITCH WIRE IN THE KICKPANEL? GREEN WIRE IN THE SAME CONNECTOR AS WHERE THE DATA KEY WIRE WOULD BE, PIN 29

so the fortin yellow (+) start is not connected to the yellow start canada model white on US key model. instead i connect the fortin yellow start to the green pin 29 behind the kick panel?

so the fortin yellow (+) start is not connected to the yellow start canada model white on US key model

NO,  the yellow (start wire) from the Evo One HAS to be connected to the START WIRE of the vehicle.

One way to test this is, leave the Evo One in automatic transmission mode, have someone sit in the car and press on the clutch pedal, then someone outside remote start the vehicle. if it starts like this, you need to bypass the clutch switch by doing the following:

The clutch switch needs a NEGATIVE TRIGGER ( ground trigger ) to be activated. You can use the DARK BLUE wire (GWR) in the 20 pin connector if the Evo One,

i tried sitting in car and pushing cluth pedal no luck but then i bypassed the clutch switch so i don't need to press the clutch to start.

1.So in automatic transmission mode you are not getting any crank??

2.How did you bypass the clutch?

3.When it failed to start in Automatic transmission mode, how many parking light flashes did you get in the end after it exhausted it's attempts?

4 Also did you follow what Robert outlined before?

#1.  no crank

#2.  put a splice connector on the clutch wire so car thinks clutch is pressed.

#3.  i will try tommoro becase i disconnected the parking light due to reservation mode makeing driving lights stay on till you open the door again, but they still stayed on till i put it in automatic mode, but i think they flashed twice when i pressed lock-unlock-lock .

#4.  yes i follewed the outline.

1. Where did you connect your IGNITION 1, IGNITION2 and STARTER wires from the Evo One to the car?  Kick panel or Ignition switch?

2. You did not permanently bypass your clutch switch right?? This is VERY DANGEROUS and please disconnect ASAP if that is what you did,  Please connect it to the GWR wire (dark blue, 20 pin connector of the Evo-One)

3. Please connect the parking lights and do all tests in automatic mode, MAKING SURE THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL and PARKING BRAKE is ENGAGED

4. I need you to test the actual STARTER wire you connected to (as noted above) with either a logic probe or multimeter to see if you are getting 12v when the remote starter is attempting to start the car (in automatic mode)

5. Because technically, you should be able to  take your IGNITION1, IGNITION 2, hotwire these 2 to 12v constant, and while holding down the clutch pedal, pulse your STARTER wire with 12v and the vehicle should start just like in the movies when people hotwire cars. this would tell you if you at least have the right wires in the vehicle.

#1. at the fuse panel per the veloster (PTS) instructions.

#2. temp bridge clip for testing remote start not permanent .

#3. parking lights due nothing.

#4. with key on to acc for power if i jumper a wire from evo red (12 volt) to evo yellow (start) the car will start.

You cannot test it by  putting the key in the ignition switch, that will fix any errors in the connections that may have been made.

Please do this test:

You have to UNPLUG THE MAIN 6 PIN HARNESS,  all test need to be done at the EVO ONE connector.

MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL

BYPASS OR STEP ON CLUTCH

WITH JUMPERS, JUMP 12V TO PINK AND WHITE (IGN 1 and 2)

THEN JUMP 12V TO YELLOW (starter)

Vehicle should start by doing these steps. please tell me if you can start the vehicle like this.

Please follow the steps to the letter.

the car starts this way.

then in automatic transmission mode it should start up, since those are the exact same wire that will be powered up.

Can you put a digital mutlimeter or logic probe on the start wire output, (yellow wire)  and tell me if you get 12v on that wire when you try to remote start.

ALSO TURN OFF OPTION A3 (key bypass) in the bypass side of the EVO ONE because you don't have an immobilizer system in the car

there was no voltage to the yellow

Are you using the ORANGE (ACC) off the main 6 pin harness for anything?

If not,  do this,

1.Disconnect the yellow wire (Start wire from Evo One) from the 6 pin harness that is connected to the yellow wire (start of the vehicle) AND ISOLATE WITH TAPE, THIS WIRE WILL NOT BE REUSED.

2.Disconnect the white wire (6 pin main harness Evo One) from the IGNITION 2 (red on the vehicle)

3.Connect the WHITE wire (Evo-One, see above) to the Yellow (start wire of the vehicle)

4. Connect unused ORANGE  wire (Evo-One 6 pin main harness) to the RED (ignition 2 of vehicle)

5. Program FUNCTION 2  to MODE 4 in the remote starter side connection mode:remote starter

In a nutshell, what we did above is reprogram the evo one to use the white wire as a second starter output wire, and reprogram the Orange (normally ACC) to  Ignition 2 since you seem to have no output from your Yellow start wire of the Evo One.

And test in automatic transmission mode to see if you can get vehicle to start while in neutral.
