EVO-ONE after 1,5 years stopped

0 votes
After just over a year and half, and just less than a week ago it was working fine, my remote start no longer works. It acts like the vehicle battery is dead. I have checked the module, red led comes on, then yellow, then everything off like dead battery. If I pop the hood, it says not ready. Door open, not ready. So it tries but fails. Vehicle battery is fine, and vehicle starts fine with the key. Do I need to reflash the module? Defective module? Vehicle battery to low? 2004 Chevy Suburban 2LT Standard Key.

Lock, unlock, panic all work. I also have RFK4411 remotes. Same issue no matter which remote is used.

Hello,

Yes you can try re programming the evo in the vehicle (page4). https://fortin.ca/download/61101/EVO-ONE_IG_REG_BI_GM_ESCALADE-AVALANCHE-SILVER-SIERRA-H2_J1850_2003-2007_A_61101.pdf

Older Gm vehicles are quite notorious for the brake switches failing over time. I would also suggest temporarily disconnecting your brake wire to see if that has any effect on the system.

Also if any other aftermarket devices are in the truck and using the j1850 or the terminating resistor/factory radio is no longer in the truck this can affect the evo-one and stop it from working. I've seen this first hand in the past.

Best regards.

Ok, here we are again, same issue. Pulled the brake switch wire, vehicle starts. Won't shutdown with brake pedal now. Plug the brake switch wire back in and it continues to run. Press the brake pedal and it shuts down. Replaced brake switch. Same thing. It will allow me to do a remote takeover, like idle, run inside but leave it running. This issue started 3 weeks ago when my trailer brake controller died. Since then no remote start. Trailer wiring is fine.

Shut off option A7 (brake via canbus) if you are already hardwired to the vehicle's brake switch.
I'll check that option. I have replaced the brake switch, twice and the wiring harness. I even plugged the wire from the EVO to a different brake wire and still no start unless the wire is disconnected. Back probe I have no power on the EVO wire until I apply the brakes. So it's not getting constant power. Not sure if it's the EVO, the EVO wire or what now. I can possibly remove the brake wire from the EVO and put a new one in to rule that out, but then I'm stuck with a potentially defective remote start module. After 3 years?
