Firmware version for 2005 Silverado.

+1 vote
Doing an install in a 2005 Silverado.  My evo-all #001A06 293705 is version 4.18.  am i correct that i must reprogram back to the 4.06 version?  Seems a little unusual to have to go back to an older program.  After all why would they sell me something that is doesn't work for my application.  Doug

Reason it says the 4.06 is required is that the J1850 databus found in those cars and in Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles was removed in firmwares 4.07 and above.

Since we now have different firmwares per Make of vehicle (ie, GM, Ford, Nissan etc) we have actually reintroduced the J1850 databus in the most recent firmwares available per Make. In  this case, You have a GM, so the latest firmware is 70.11 (70.[XX] being a GM specific firmware) with a J1850 update. You can see for yourself on the EVO-ALL Firmware page. The only reason you still 4.06 is required in the install guide, is that it's pratically impossible for us to re-test a 2005 in 2013 (for example) with the latest firmware, our dealers just don't have any in stock..

That being said, one way or another, 4.18 would not work and the firmware needs to be changed in the EVO to either 4.06 or the latest GM firmware 70.11. Personally, if you do not have a Flash-Link, take the 4.06 firmware.
