Resistors and 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

0 votes
I have been getting mixed instructions on which resistor I should be using  for my install, and I just want to clarify it.

In a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, when wiring up the parking lights with the remote start, should I be using a 1k ohm or 1.5k ohm resistor. Also, will it matter so much on the wattage? Should I be safe with 1/4, 1/2, 1 or 2 watt resistors?

1/4 watt is sufficient, As for the resistor, it can range from 1k to 1.5k, this will need to be tested at the time of the installation, since it can vary from vehicle to vehicle.

This is easily tested by locating the parking light wire, then trying the 1k resistor first with one side to ground and checking if the parking lights illuminate.

getting a pack of 1k resistors is the best, since let's say 1k does not work, all you have to do is take 2 more 1k resistors, twist both ends in parallel (the resistor bodies should be next to each other) this will cut the resistance value in half, so 500 ohm, then connect these 2 to the first one in series (it should be single resistor then connected to the double resistor end to end) which will give you, 1K +500ohm = 1.5 K

Thank you,
