2014 Toyota 4Runner G Key using Toyota 1 T harness and Guide #18251

I'm performing the Key Bypass Programming Procedure and can get the Blue and Red light to come as instructed, but as soon I plug in the 20 pin connector the YELLOW light comes on and i can't get the bypass to program.

Thanks,

Mike

Are you getting 12V on the yellow wire of that 20-pin connector while the key is off ?

If i look at some of your options, specifically bypass side, they are way off. Do a master reset and enable C1 afterwards without touching any other option.

Master Reset

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in the datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Yes, I've got 12V on the yellow wire while the key is off.

I performed the master reset and ONLY changed the C1 setting on the bypass side and tried it again but as soon as that 20 pin connector makes contact the yellow light still comes on.
Ya there actually shouldn't be 12V on that yellow wire when the key is OFF. It's an ignition input, meaning, 12V should only be present when the key is in the ON position.
Yeah, i couldn't tell the difference between pink and red on that T-Harness...hahahaha

Thanks
Haha, excellent. Programmed up correctly now?
Well....getting there at least.

Any luck with 3X lock OEM remote on a '14 4Runner or do we need an RF kit?  (i saw where the Tundra and 4Runner were removed from the 3x lock function)

using the oem remote really depends on if the blue led flashes when you press lock or unlock from the factory remote.

We removed it until we actually get those vehicles back in shop but i have manged to get to work.

Absolutely needs firmware 79.24.

Not sure about the 4Runner though.

I'm still running into a couple of problems with the programming.  I no longer get the yellow light when plugging in the 20 pin connector but i can't get any of the oem remote functions to register on the module.  I **think** i have the bypass programmed correctly as it lights up as instructed (after programming if i turn the key to ON the yellow light comes on).

I tried master resetting again and only enabled option C1.  I have seen a few posts where the hood switch could be causing some issues but i'm not sure how to resolve it.  Do my settings look OK or are they still way off?

Thanks in advance

options all seem fine on both remote starter and bypass side.

If you are not seeing the blue led flash when pressing lock or unlock than it's bad news time, 3x lock start would not work.

If you are getting a blue led flash on lock or unlock, make sure that the yellow wire loop on the back of the EVO is cut (if automatic transmission). As for the hood pin, turn off option A11 in the bypass options. This disable hood detection.

Note/reminder... this car is not listed as 3xlock compatible... it all depends on if that blue led is flashing or not (as long as the programming procedure in the installation guide went through correctly)

Wow....you all are quick!!  Impressive.

No, i'm not getting the blue flash on lock/unlock and i think that the programming procedure is proper.

I have a Crimestopper RF kit (RS4-G5) en route and hopefully that will resolve it.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks again Robert.

I also have an Evo All....would the 3x OEM lock feature work on the 2014 4Runner G key?
Remote starter is required for that vehicle if using the EVO-ALL since there's a bunch of ignition/starter wires to connect. If the EVO-ALL can detect the OEM remote remotes though, and the remote starter is compatible in datalink and has the option for it; enabling C1-OEM Remote Monitoring would allow 3x lock start.

Some remote starters also literally have a trigger wire that can be physically connected to the lock motor.
Hi Robert and/or Others:

I'm trying to get my Crimestopper SP-502 working with my Evo One.  I've made some progress but am now stumped.

I'm using the data link cable from the evo one to the sp-502.  The only other thing i have plugged into the sp-502 is the RF antenna.

I press the start button on the sp-502 remote and get blue light then RED light on the evo one.  No yellow light though.

Doors lock after it "THINKS" it has started when in reality it hasn't even cranked.

Please help.  Thanks.
SP-502 with the EVO-ONE will not work (the EVO-ONE is already a full remote start / alarm). You are looking for an RF-KIT such as their REVO system from crimestopper. RF-KITs basically are an antenna and remote kit.

Crimestopper RF-Kits look like this : http://crimestopper.com/products/remote-start/revo-series.html

The EVO-ALL though, since it's only a bypass unit, would work wonderfully with the Sp-502.

Thanks again Robert. I also have a Crimestopper RS4-G5....any chance it will work with the EVO ONE or same issue as the SP-502?

And i guess just using the antenna, plug and remotes from the RS4-G5 wouldn't work either?

RS4-G5 and SP502 will work fine with the EVO-ALL but not the EVO-ONE. As for just plugging in the antenna into the EVO-ONE, i have no idea if this would work and honestly doubt it would.

Worst case, might get a little confusing although it's quite simple...

You mentionned you had an EVO-ALL earlier? The EVO-ALL and EVO-ONEs connectors are all the same, except for the big 6 pin connector with the main ignition harness. You could just technically swap out your EVO-ONE for that EVO-ALL and wire up either the SP502 or RS4. Just take a look at the EVO-ALL installation guide. Hi Robert-

I stuck with the Evo One and installed the Revo 4.  I am getting cranking and intermittant starting.  Seems like its an issue with the Tach settings or tach learning maybe?  After failed start after crank i get 4 flashes.

And if i put the key in the cylinder and leave it to OFF it will start immediately everytime....so i'm close, but just not quite there.

Do i have some settings off or what?

Thanks!!
try with settings for tachless and default crank time.

20.2 and option 3 to default crank time
Well, it seemed like that got it as it started right up four or five different times but now it either will just crank with no start or it will think that it has started when it really hasn't.  It will start every time if i have the key in the cylinder in the OFF position.

One other thing...can the OEM remotes be programed to the Evo One now that i have the Revo RF kit or is the 3x lock on oem still a no go on a 14 4Runner g key?
Is the small yellow wire from your evoone is getting 12v when the ignition is on, and 0v when the ignition is off ?
Thanks for your response.

Yes, the little yellow wire is getting 12V when ignition is in the ON position and goes to 0V when ignition is off.  (The little yellow is connected to the big pink wire in the Toy1 wire harness.)
I'm still getting intermittant success.  Sometimes it starts right up just like it's supposed to ....and then other times it cranks for 8 seconds but doesnt start.

Sometimes i get 4 flashes of the parking lights on a no start.  Other times it tries to start and *thinks* that it did start when it actually didn't.

The little yellow wire is getting 12V when ignition is ON and 0V when OFF.  Please advise.  Thanks in advance.
Turn off option 6.2 (set it back to 6.1). If you need to disarm the OEM alarm, activate option D2 in the bypass options.
Hey Robert-

I think that got it!  It's started right up about 8 times or so.  Thank you all so much for your help.

I assume that the OEM remote 3x lock feature is not going to work even with my Revo RF kit?  Could a future update bring back that functionality?
If Toyota decides to put keyless commands that we can interpret on the Can-Bus, yes! :)

Haha...i hear ya.

What shock sensor do you all recommend for the Evo One?  I've looked at the

Directed Electronics 504D Double Guard Stinger Shock Sensor

and the

Metra AX-Shock...

Either shock sensor is fine.

For the 3x Lock, I just want to add that in future updates their may be a way to have 3x Lock start on vehicles like this, but it will be through a wired connection to the door lock motor.
Hi Robert-

The Evo One is working great everytime!!  Than k you all so much for all the help.

I got the DEI 504D shock sensor and I'm not sure how/where to connect it.  The Evo One Quick install guide lists a 3 pin shock sensor input but the 504D comes with a 4 pin connector.  The 504D 4 pin connector cable looks like it wants to plug into the DataLink port on the Evo One....is that correct?

Also, the 504D comes with a loose green wire that says it's for the (-) warn output....what should i connect it to?

Thanks as always!

The only Shock Sensor input on the EVO-ONE is the 3-pin connector on the front of the unit.

on the 504D, does it not have a 4-pin that plugs into itself and 3-pin on the other side?

Also, the 504D comes with a loose green wire that says it's for the (-) warn output....what should i connect it to?

Dual Stage shock sensors have a warn away and a full trigger output. Depending on the strength of impact (normally adjustable by little screws on the unit), it can trigger a warn away signal or full trigger. Difference would be that the warn away output would only trigger 2-3 quick chirps of an alarm system while a full trigger would trigger the alarm to sound. This is a DEI product though and I can't really speak for them.

The 504D has a white 4 pin connector that plugs into itself and another white 4 pin on the the other end.  They both fit perfectly into the Data Link port on the Evo One but are not even close to fitting in the 3 pin shock sensor port.
